I came in to this experience knowing that environment is a powerful teacher. But it still surprised me to see my one-year old using sign language and math skills from class after a year of quietly watching. She was learning the whole time. When she was ready, she did what the older children did, effortlessly, without any explanations.

I'm really impressed with how my daughter has gone from not really counting objects to understanding the foundations of arithmetic. Totally unexpected!

Our family really needed an environment that catered to 2 different development groups and this was it. My 20 month old became a sure footed walker getting the opportunity to traverse over so many different terrains. He learned signs watching other kids use them and then would use them at home. For my 3yo the opportunity to imagine with other children was priceless. His already unique imaginings blossomed with input from the other children. He learned the concept of number amounts and is constantly asking me to know the 'signs' for new things we see.

I've never been a huge fan of being outside (especially bugs and dirt), but for me, that just meant I was never exposed to nature in the way I want my son to be. Starting the outdoor preschool while he was very young (6 months old) gave me time to find clothes that would keep me warm and dry, and to gradually become accustomed to both of us getting dirty.

Now, my 17 month old son loves playing outside and I'm learning to enjoy this time as well. He loves to point out and talk about bugs, dig in dirt, grab handfuls of sand, and get rocks wet. He doesn't mind walking barefoot on grass or dirt, and most important of all, he loves Ms. Janet!

My children were very quiet observers during most class days. My goal was to give them exposure to different environments, and a different way of learning. I didn't expect them to pick up sign so quickly with words and songs, and learn arithmetic using sticks, rocks, and orange wedges. I feel like they're so creative and comfortable being outdoors and can easily be content 'counting' rocks, building with sticks, and just using what they have in that particular setting. As a parent, my favorite thing learned is the simplicity of having fun with education outdoors. No toys or accessories necessary, just a lot of snacks!

I also so much enjoy circle time and the value instilled early of coming together as a group to interact and build a sense of community.
